Let us answer your questions

What makes your support team different from other providers?

At Just Living, we don’t just fill shifts, we build teams around each person. That means looking beyond availability and making sure your support workers actually suit your needs, routines and preferences. We consider behavioural compatibility, clinical requirements, and personal preferences when selecting staff, and we provide you with worker profiles so you know who’s coming and why.

If your situation changes, your team can shift with it — but you won’t need to re-explain everything. We keep things consistent, and we take pride in matching participants with people they feel comfortable with. Our team is also trained specifically around your needs, not just handed generic paperwork.

We’ve built our whole approach around stability, trust, and care that actually feels like it fits — especially for people who’ve experienced support that’s been inconsistent in the past.

Our high-intensity support is delivered by staff who are specifically trained for the needs of each individual — whether that’s PEG feeding, catheter care, complex bowel care, or severe dysphagia. We also make sure that the team supporting you has received practical training and understands your situation well before stepping in.

If your needs change, we’ll reassess the plan with you and adjust the support accordingly. We also make sure your care is documented clearly, so every team member knows what’s expected and how to provide it properly. You’ll never be left explaining medical requirements to someone who hasn’t been prepared.

Our goal is to give you peace of mind and support that’s not only safe and compliant, but also delivered with calm, respectful care.

It depends on what you need, but we’re known for being responsive. If you’re looking for support urgently — whether it’s one worker or a full team — we can often move faster than larger, more rigid providers.

We start with a proper conversation to understand what you’re after, then put a plan in place with clear next steps. If you’re transitioning from another provider or coming out of hospital, we can support you through that process, including temporary accommodation if needed.

Our team also keeps communication clear from the start, so you’re not left waiting without updates. Whether you’re planning ahead or needing support to start soon, we’ll always give you a realistic timeframe and keep things moving.

We know how stressful it can be when things are up in the air — our job is to take that weight off your shoulders and get support in place properly.

Absolutely, we encourage it.

You’ll be given the chance to review support worker profiles before anyone starts, so you can get a feel for who might be the right fit. We don’t just assign whoever’s available. We match based on your clinical needs, personality, routines and preferences — because it’s your life, and your team should reflect that.

If there’s someone you’d prefer not to work with, we’ll listen and act on it. We know that relationships matter, so we aim to build a small, consistent team around you, not a revolving door of unfamiliar faces. If your needs change or you want to change the dynamic of your team, we’ll talk it through with you and make those adjustments.

It’s about building trust and making sure you feel safe, understood, and comfortable with the people supporting you every day.

Changes are part of life and we’re set up to adapt when they happen. If your needs shift, we won’t make you go through the whole process again. Instead, we’ll revisit your goals and support requirements with you and adjust your team or plan to suit. That could mean more hours, different types of support, or a shift in how your support is delivered.

Our in-house systems make it easy to update plans without unnecessary delays, and we stay in close communication with you throughout. Because we employ our own teams, we can usually make changes quickly and with minimal disruption.

Whether it’s a health change, a move, or something personal, we’ll work with you to make sure the right support is still in place — and that it continues to feel right for where you’re at now.

Families, guardians, and other key people are welcome to be as involved as you want them to be. We know that some participants prefer to make decisions independently, while others appreciate having family involved in planning or communication.

Either way, we’ll respect your wishes and set things up accordingly. If you do want your family involved, we’ll keep them updated, include them in meetings, and make sure they have the right information — without ever speaking for you or over you.

Our goal is to create a support arrangement that feels comfortable, coordinated and clear for everyone. If family dynamics are complex, or if certain boundaries are important to you, we’ll respect that and follow your lead. It’s about building a circle of support that works for you.

We support participants from many different cultural backgrounds and aim to make communication as clear and respectful as possible. If English isn’t your first language, let us know — we’ll do our best to match you with someone who understands your preferences and can communicate clearly.

While we may not always have a direct language match available, we can explore options like interpreters or translated materials where needed. Our focus is on building trust, understanding your routines, and making sure you feel comfortable and respected in every part of your support.
